As of September 2019, any mail client sending via SMTP through a Heart Internet mail server should use port 587<\/strong> instead of ports 25 or 465. Details on how to change this will vary on your mail client, but we’ve detailed some of these further down this article.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is also advisable to use STARTTLS<\/strong> for your encryption method.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Outlook<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Select File<\/strong><\/li>
  2. Select Account Settings<\/strong><\/li>
  3. Select Account Settings<\/strong> from the dropdown<\/li>
  4. Select your email account from the lists in the Email<\/strong> tab and select Change<\/strong><\/li>
  5. Select More Settings<\/strong><\/li>
  6. Select Advanced<\/strong><\/li>
  7. Change the Outgoing server (SMTP) option to 587<\/strong><\/li>
  8. Change the encryption types on both IMAP and SMTP to STARTTLS<\/strong><\/li>
  9. Select Ok<\/strong><\/li>
  10. Select Next<\/strong><\/li>
  11. Once tests have completed select Close<\/strong> and then Finish<\/strong><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    Windows Mail<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    1. Start Windows Mail, click the Tools menu at the top of the window and then click Accounts.<\/li>
    2. Select your account under Mail, and then click on the Properties button.<\/li>
    3. Go to the Advanced tab, under Outgoing server (SMTP), change port 25 to 587.<\/li>
    4. Click the OK button to save the changes.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

      Outlook Express<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

      1. Start Outlook Express, and then select Accounts from the Tools menu at the top of the window.<\/li>
      2. Double click on your email account.<\/li>
      3. Under the Advanced tab, change the Outgoing server (SMTP) port 25 to 587.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n


        Thunderbird<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

        1. Select Tools<\/strong><\/li>
        2. Select Outgoing Server (SMTP)<\/strong><\/li>
        3. Select the server for this account then Edit<\/strong><\/li>
        4. Change the port to 587<\/strong><\/li>
        5. Change the Connection Security <\/strong>option to STARTTLS<\/strong><\/li>
        6. Change the Authentication Method<\/strong> option to Normal Password<\/strong><\/li>
        7. Enter your full email address as the User Name<\/strong><\/li>
        8. Select OK<\/strong><\/li>
        9. Select OK<\/strong><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

          Mac Mail<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

          1. Select Preferences<\/strong><\/li>
          2. Select Accounts<\/strong><\/li>
          3. Select the Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP)<\/strong> drop down menu, then Edit SMTP Server List<\/strong><\/li>
          4. Select the SMTP server for this account<\/li>
          5. Change the Port<\/strong> to 587<\/strong><\/li>
          6. Select OK<\/strong><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

            iPhone<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

            1. Go to Settings<\/strong><\/li>
            2. Select Passwords & Accounts<\/strong><\/li>
            3. Select your email account<\/li>
            4. Select the Account<\/strong><\/li>
            5. Under OUTGOING MAIL SERVER<\/strong> select SMTP<\/strong><\/li>
            6. Select the server<\/li>
            7. Update the Server Port<\/strong> to use 587<\/strong><\/li>
            8. Select Done<\/strong><\/li>
            9. Select < Account<\/strong> then Done<\/strong><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

              Android Mail<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

              1. Open the Email App<\/strong><\/li>
              2. Select Settings<\/strong><\/li>
              3. Select Account Settings<\/strong><\/li>
              4. Select the account you wish to change<\/li>
              5. Scroll down to More Settings<\/strong><\/li>
              6. Select Outgoing Settings<\/strong><\/li>
              7. Change the port to 587<\/strong> and the Security Settings to STARTTLS<\/strong><\/li>
